If theaters were currently open nationwide, audiences would be exiting cineplexes talking energetically about “Promising Young Woman” - about Mulligan’s tour-de-force performance, and what it’s saying about the world in which we live. Once back home, where she lives with her parents, she makes a mark in a notebook, and feels both satisfied and very sad.
